When a person has lost most of their teeth and have difficulty chewing they often opt to have the rest removed and dentures made. Dentures are removable prosthesis made of plastic that look like your natural teeth.
If a tooth is still good, but the interior of the tooth has been compromised, we can restore the tooth by clearing out the damaged tissue.
As we said on our preventive care page, bacteria and plaque create acidic byproducts that can eat away at the enamel of your teeth. If not prevented, this decay will cause cavities (carries).
The best ways to deal with tooth decay and cavities is to remove the decayed portions of the tooth and fill it in. For small cavities we use fillings. For more extensive damage we use crowns and/or root canal therapy.
