The Truth About At Home Aligners

Posted on 2/6/2023 by Mark Bieber
The Truth About At Home AlignersEvery day, it seems like there's a new way to straighten your teeth, but do at-home aligners work? And are they worth the investment? In this article, we'll closer look at the truth about at-home aligners and whether we think they are worth it.

How Do At-Home Aligners Work?

At-home aligners work by using a series of clear plastic trays that gently shift your teeth into place. The trays are custom-made for you based on impressions of your teeth taken by your dentist. You wear them for a certain amount of time each day (usually around 20 minutes) and then switch to the next tray in the set. Over time, this gentle pressure shifts your teeth into their desired position.

Are Home Teeth Straightening Kits Safe?

The short answer is yes, at-home aligners are safe. They are FDA-approved materials that won't cause irritation to your mouth or gums, and they'll damage or weaken your enamel. When you first start wearing them, you might experience some tooth sensitivity, but this usually goes away after a few days as your teeth adjust to the new pressure being placed on them. However, if the sensitivity doesn't disappear within two weeks, talk with us about it to determine if there is a problem causing it or if you need an adjustment in how long you wear each tray for each day (usually every night).

At-Home Aligners vs. Invisalign

At-home aligners are an alternative to Invisalign for straightening your teeth. The most significant difference between the two is that you wear at-home trays in private while you can show off your straighter smile with Invisalign, which uses a series of clear plastic trays. In addition, it's all much easier to remove than traditional braces or other types of invisible dental appliances because it doesn't use wires or brackets attached to it as metal braces do. At the end of treatment, this means there will be less chance of tooth staining and decay as well as gum irritation since food won't get stuck under them quite so quickly!

At-home aligners are a great option if you want straighter teeth without traditional braces and wires. They are use and have been proven effective in clinical studies. It's so that you can wear them discreetly so nobody has to know what you're If you have any questions reach out to us and we'll to assist in any way we can.
