How Teeth Get Loose When You Have Gum Disease

Posted on 12/25/2016 by Mark Bieber
A patient suffering from gum disease.
When you have gum disease, the teeth and the gums suffer. The gums are inflamed and begin to recede. This can cause a lot of problems, including allowing your teeth to become loose. Instead of letting this happen, make sure that you go in and see your dentist at the earliest stages of gum trouble. That way, you can keep your teeth right where they are supposed to be.

When Your Gums Recede, Your Teeth Get Wobbly

Your gums are meant to hold your teeth in place. If you get gum disease, those gums will eventually recede. With nothing beside your teeth to keep them straight, they are going to start to wobble. The more they move around, the less stability they are going to have, and eventually, that is going to lead to lost teeth.

In order to stop this from happening, you need to go through and see your dentist at the first signs of gum disease. Keep in mind, the first signs of gum disease are painless, so if you are already having pain, then you are likely already past the initial stages of gum disease.

Gum disease can do a lot of damage, and if you wait until you have gum pain, you are already to the point of damage being done. The sooner you can get in to see your dentist, the more of that damage you should be able to avoid. It takes a while to treat gum disease, so the sooner you can get started, the less likely you are going to be to lose your teeth.

Contact our office if you think your teeth have gotten looser. The sooner you can get in to have a full examination, the better it is for your health, and for the life of your teeth.
