Cracked Front Teeth Toomin & Bieber Aesthetic Comprehensive Dentistry CA 91505-4325When you have a cracked front tooth, there are many things to worry about. It can ruin your smile and it can cause pain. Some will ignore all the problems that come with cracked front teeth.

Others will try to ignore it because they fear going to the dentist. If you ignore the problem, the damage will only get worse. It is much better to find out how we can fix your cracked teeth.

Reasons Teeth Crack

The type of treatment for cracked teeth often depends what caused and the type of damage. The most common reason for cracked teeth is trauma. People crack their teeth playing sports, falling or eating hard food. Some suffer problems because of tooth decay.

Cracked teeth come in different forms. Crazy lines are tiny cracks on the outside of the enamel. Fractured cusp occurs when the chewing surface breaks off of the tooth. A cracked tooth involves a line that extends from the chewing surface towards the root. It almost always gets worse over time. It can turn into a split tooth. A vertical root fracture is a crack that starts at the root and extends to the chewing surface.

Types of Treatment

Our offices typically turn to five different ways to treat a cracked tooth.

•  Dental bonding - Materials are bonded to the tooth to repair the crack
•  Veneers - They are a cover for the tooth
•  Crowns - These are caps that cover the tooth
•  Root Canal - Repairs the damage to the root so that another treatment can cover the crack
•  Dental Implants - Replace the tooth completely

Our dental professionals can help you determine how the cracked tooth happened and what the best options for treatment are. We want to give people the smile they deserve back. For more information or to find out how we can help, don't wait to contact the professionals at our office.
