Veneers are a great way to deal with different problems people have with their teeth. Cracks, chipped and broken teeth all benefit from veneers. Veneers also help with gaps in the teeth and discolored teeth. While veneers do serve useful purposes, they are not perfect. They can also become cracked. That leads people wot wonder if it is possible to repair a cracked veneer or if you have to start over. What Are Dental VeneersVeneers are thin coverings that are attached to a tooth or teeth to cover over problems with the teeth. They can help cover issues such as broken, cracked, chipped or discolored teeth. They look like natural teeth and can improve the smile of the person that gets them.Because veneers are thin and are attached directly to the teeth with an adhesive, they are prone to a few problems. They can separate from the teeth or they can develop cracks and chips. When they do, it is possible to repair them if everything goes right. Repairing Dental VeneersThere are several keys to repairing any problems with veneers. If pieces of the veneer crack or chip off, it is important to try to save all the pieces. Put the pieces into a soft cloth to prevent any further damage. When possible, remove the veneer that is left on the teeth and place it in the soft cloth. Do not remove the veneer if it will cause more damage.Once you have done this with the veneer, it is a good idea to come into our office as soon as possible. While you should not experience any problems if the veneers are not in place for a short time, it is possible that you will suffer from some sensitivity issues. It is possible for us to reattach and repair cracked and chipped veneers, but this is not always the case. In some cases, they will need replacement. For more information about this or any other oral health issue, contact our office to schedule an appointment. |
