Times When A Panoramic X-ray Is Best for Your Oral Health

Panoramic radiography, also known as panoramic X-ray, is an X-ray that examines your entire mouth and produces a single image that may provide us with timely results of your oral condition which include; your teeth, gum, jawbone and other oral tissues. We may perform this examination for treatment and observation purposes.
Examination Purposes
For patients who are new to our dental offices, we recommend the use of panoramic X-rays to examine your oral condition thoroughly. If our dentists diagnose you with any oral disorders or infections, we can prepare a dental chart to record all the illnesses then use it to assess your treatment progress. We can also use panoramic X-rays on patients who may have had a previous inconsistent dental checkup, because, you can contract other oral problems during the period that you were away. The procedure will enable us to update your previous dental records and begin a new series of either preventive or corrective treatment to improve your oral health.
Treatment Purposes
Panoramic X-rays may be necessary when you require treatment procedures such as dentures, braces, extraction and tooth implants. These treatment procedures rely entirely on the strength and health of your gum and jawbone, and by using panoramic x-ray, we can obtain accurate details of your oral health. For instance, a procedure like dental implants involves drilling of your gum and jawbone to fix the tooth implant. If the jawbone is not enough to adequately hold the implant, it will be weak. Also, the infected gum may affect the bone healing process, and this may prevent it from healing successfully. With the use of our panoramic x-rays, we may effectively and accurately perform any dental procedure. You can contact our staff for more information about processes involving panoramic x-rays.
