3 Ways to Make Flossing Simpler

Posted on 4/12/2021 by Mark Bieber
3 Ways to Make Flossing SimplerFlossing is an important part of the daily dental care routine. Many people still tend to skip out on flossing their teeth as they believe that brushing is enough. While brushing helps get rid of the plaque that accumulates on your teeth throughout the day, flossing gets rid of any food remnants stuck between your teeth and in places where your brush can't reach. The fact is that for most people, flossing is quite a difficult and time-consuming endeavor in comparison to brushing, which is why many people avoid flossing.

However, we are here to make flossing easier for you by letting you in on a few secrets so that that you can floss more quickly and effectively, making it a compulsory part of your daily dental care routine.

Choose the Right Type of Floss

Dental floss has more than one variation, and knowing which kind works best for you is an integral factor to make your flossing routine much more convenient. Nylon floss is the first type of dental floss that is a multifilament floss. This type of floss is quite stingy and can even easily break apart. Another type of floss is the polytetrafluorethylene floss, a single filament floss that easily accesses the tightest of spaces.

Nylon floss is further divided into two categories – waxed and non-waxed. While waxed nylon floss is compressed enough to access tight spaces and is resistant to breakage, non-waxed flossed can fit into tighter spaces, but is prone to breakage. Considering the kind of foods you eat and the plaque you experience, having an idea about the types of floss can be quite beneficial for you.

Ensure You Are Using Enough Floss

Flossing doesn't just comprise of pulling a thread between your teeth and getting done. In fact, effective flossing includes thoroughly cleaning the surface of your teeth and making sure that you do the same for every individual tooth. That being said, you need to ensure that you have enough floss to easily clean all your teeth, while also ensuring that you use a new piece of floss for every tooth.

Do It Daily

Practice will make you perfect! The only way to make flossing simpler and easier is to floss your teeth every day. The more you floss, the more your technique will improve, and before you even know it, you will be flossing quickly and effectively.

Flossing helps prevent a variety of dental concerns including the formation of tartar. However, if you've fallen prey to tartar or any other dental concern, then you should visit us at Toomin & Bieber Aesthetic Comprehensive Dentistry or call us at (818) 748-9998.
