What Are the Best Methods for Teeth Alignment?

Posted on 9/19/2022 by Mark Bieber
What Are the Best Methods for Teeth Alignment?Having straight teeth does not only boost your smile and confidence, but they signify good oral health. Crooked teeth, on the other hand, might be more problematic than you might think. Having crooked teeth can negatively impact your chewing habits, dental health, gum health, and even your daily life. Below are some teeth alignment options;

Metal Braces

Traditional braces are the most known and successful orthodontic procedure for straightening crooked teeth. They are constructed of metal brackets, an archwire, and rubber bands to hold them together. The archwire exerts pressure on the misaligned teeth, gradually moving them into place. Braces are a safe and dependable kind of treatment. However, the aesthetics of invisible aligners are preferred by many adults and teenagers. Depending on your illness, treatment might last anywhere from 18 to 36 months.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners (invisible braces) are custom-made, undetectable, and detachable plastic aligners. Patients wear one tray of clear aligners for one week and change to the following aligner set. This process securely and progressively shifts the teeth into place. Clear aligners can treat crowded teeth, underbites, gap teeth, overbites, crossbites, and open bites.

Retainers

Your teeth will try to get back to their original position after teeth straightening treatment. Retainers prevent teeth from shifting and protect your beautiful smile after removing braces. They can be either reusable or irremovable. Retainers are typically worn for at least four to six months, although certain retainers may be worn longer.

Teeth-Straightening Surgery

Teeth straightening surgery may be used in addition to traditional braces to enhance the results of teeth alignment. In severe circumstances, where straightening the teeth alone is insufficient to establish a pleasant and balanced bite, surgery may be required. Sometimes the real issue may be the length or form of the jaw bone. Orthognathic surgery can fix the bite misalignment and simplify getting braces later. Surgery can occasionally take place between stages of orthodontic treatment.
