Dr. Lawrence Toomin graduated Magna Cum Laude from USC in 1979. His love of science and technology led him into the dental field.
He received his degree in dentistry from USC in 1983. At that time he was also a teaching assistant in anatomy and held positions in student council, including vice president of the student body.
After graduation, Dr. Toomin worked as an instructor of Oral Diagnosis at USC and has frequently been called back as a guest lecturer.
Dr. Toomin works in all facets of general dentistry and particularly enjoys comprehensive and aesthetic dentistry. He has worked with several celebrities from the entertainment industry who require the most demanding aesthetic dentistry.
Dr. Toomin continuously studies new technology and bring his patients the latest techniques and solutions. He completed work at the the Pankey Institute, the premier advanced education institute noted for comprehensive dentistry at the highest level.
Dr. Toomin is currently enrolled in the Toluca Lake Mini Residency through the Frank Spears Study Club. Annually, he accumulates hundreds of hours of continuing education, his courses focus on occlusion, composite bonding, pain management, TMJ disorder, splint therapy, natural beauty and aesthetics, photography, and practice management.
Having secured his Fellowship, Dr. Toomin is also working on his Mastership with the Academy of General Dentistry. An MAGD distinction is one of the highest prestigious recognitions in dentistry.
Outside of his practice in the Toluca Lake-Burbank area, Dr. Toomin's interests lie in leadership and management training (positive coaching). He is proud to have held leadership roles as a teaching assistant in anatomy and a guest lecturer at USC Dental School.
As a foremost leader in his field, Dr. Toomin has published cases in the Cosmetic Dentistry Association Journal. He hosted and taught workshops on cast gold and aesthetics at the CDA convention in 2010.
Dr. Toomin has also prepared presentations for Dr. Irwin Becker, the Chairman of the Pankey Institute on Interdisciplinary Approach to Dentistry, and Dr. Bruce Small, one of the top 100 speakers in dentistry.
Dr. Toomin was honored with receiving the 2011 Los Angeles Top Doctors and Dentists award for achievement in general dentistry, and he will be filming a segment for Fox Television soon. Among his other accolades, Dr. Toomin was recognized in 2010 as Best Dentist in Burbank.
Dr. Toomin is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association (with published articles in the CDA journal), San Fernando Valley Dental Society, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He participates and was past president (2009) of the Southern California Pankey Study Club.
As a community volunteer, Dr. Toomin enjoys donating his time practicing dentistry with recovering young men in a sober living facility. He has two sons, Ryan and Michael, and volunteers with youth sports, coaching baseball, basketball, and soccer. Dr. Toomin enjoys working out at the gym, practicing yoga, and snow skiing, as well as playing his guitar.
